Kendrick Would Protect Shippers From High Freight Rates

Washington D C Dec 21 Senator John B Kendrick in the Senate urged repeal of a Transportation Act provision that forced high freight rates. Landscape artist Browning paints at Gillette Pharmacy

A. L. Browning, a Colorado Springs landscape artist, has spent the last week at Gillette Pharmacy painting pictures using only McMurtry Mfg. Co. paints and store brushes. He draws daily for a big picture giveaway from a registration hat and offers to paint orders as a promotional feature admired by crowds.

Spielman Elected Commander To Lead Legion Post

At the year’s last Legion meeting, Jesse E. Spielman was chosen Commander with J. H. Kirby as Vice-Commander, Jack Morran Adjutant, Albert Dickey Treasurer, and Edgar Anderson on the executive committee. A new constitution was adopted and routine business completed. Spielman previously served as the post’s first commander.

Christmas Musical Program by Local Grade Schools

Pupils under Mrs M J Corbett accompany readings by Mrs Leonard present a Christmas musical program at the Baptist Church tomorrow at 2:00 PM. The outline lists carols and solos by various grade groups and choirs including Hallie Collicott Thelma Ryan and Rowland Honey with instructions for directing and attendance open to the public.

Moe Springs Christmas Eve Celebration at Haas School

The Hoe Springs community plans a Christmas Eve program at Haas school directed by the Homemuberculera Club with children from nearby schools performing. Afterward cake and coffee will be served and merchants donated treats for the children.

Charity Ball Aids Town Children At Christmas Festivities

A local charity ball held last Saturday at the Legion hall funded a Christmas Tree event on Gillette Avenue. The turnout supported a generous treat for every child in town with music enjoyed by dancers.

Wyoming Livestock Inspection Records Reported

Sheriff R S Mardy Campbell County Wyoming examined books on inspections from July 22 1920 to October 27 1921. 835 horses and mules were inspected earning 107.00 pounds in fees and 188 cattle earned 01.00 dollars. Total fees 258.90 with 257.00 deposited to County Treasury and 1.09 due to error.

Letters to Santa From Local Children Brighten Christmas

Four letters to Santa published by the News reveal children’s holiday wishes. Leonard Groves asks for a cowhide mittens and a merry go round, Lois Groves seeks paints and girl’s gloves, while another child asks for a dolly, pink dress, candy and a sled. Wolf Capture Earns Reward for North Side Hunters

J. W. Stanley and T. S. Nichols returned from a trapping expedition on the Gillette area where they took one large female wolf and fourteen coyotes. The North Side Wolf Association paid a $100 reward for the capture of female wolves. A second wolf escaped from a trap. wolves near Newcastle are blamed for cattle losses.

Montana Tourist Praises on Hiway

George Reid of Stevensville Montana writes to L A Higgins praising the Custer Battlefield Hiway noting its scenery and road quality.
