Meat theft leads to jail and meal tickets in small town

Mrs. J. D. Collins reported theft after a half hog and beef were stolen from her larder. Sheriff Tait traced the meat to a local restaurant in exchange for meal tickets. S. Dava, once jailed for a saddle theft, pleaded guilty and received four months at Hotel de Twit with hard labor. The pork was returned. the beef was consumed.

Cowboy Rounds Completes 2200 Mile Horseback Ride in 100 Days

Frank L. Rounds, a seasoned cowboy, rode 2200 miles from Flint to his hometown on a trotting mare named Maggie K. The trip took 100 days with 42 days of travel and 58 days in inns, marking a record for a single horse journey. Cyclone Near Charter Oak Delays Traveler

Escaped Indian Is Captured Near Lander Returns to Pen

Joe Baker an escaped Indian from a convict road builders camp on the Dukeville Afton road in Salt Canyon was captured at Lander last week and sent back to the Rawlins state penitentiary. He was serving two to nine years for assault on his brother in law and his relative helped arrest him. Baker described a hard journey over mountains subsisting on roots and scant food. He is a half breed son of Captain Baker, noted frontier scout in early Wyoming history.

Rich placer discovery draws rush despite snow in Hurricane district

Report from Cheyenne Tribune dated December 14 describes a placer bonanza found by O. O. Baker in the Hurricane district thirty five miles north of town. Dirt reportedly sells for 500 dollars per cubic yard as locals rush to locate claims while Baker shows gold nuggets from pin head to kernel size.
