Man of his ability shirks town life in exile

The verse mockingly profiles a man in decline who wastes his prime in a small burg. It calls him the strolling “Mister Hometown Knocker,” lacking optimism and energy, doomed to drift and grieve as he slowly roams the region. It hints at a future idle life near a health resort owned by Landlord Nick.
