Rifle and handcuffs stolen then recovered in split northwestern incident
A stranger named Yarrow allegedly stole Deputy Sheriff Lew Jenne s rifle and handcuffs from a Sheridan room. He fled toward the west, was robbed by two youths near the Montana line, and later turned over to authorities after a police inquiry. Lew recovered the items and the suspect pled guilty at a Justice Stone hearing and was bound over to district court. The two youths remained jailed in Sheridan.

County Agent to Leave Soon for New Home
P T Meyers resigns as County agricultural agent of Wea County to take a similar post in Fremont County with headquarters in Lander. He will stay in Clearmont with friends and return to Newcastle to be in his office Friday. Meyers, in the role three years, previously taught at the University of Wyoming and served in World War I. The Campbell County office will offer a longer contract and better pay, and locals regret his departure while supporting his move. He will travel to Lander by land in a Dodge roadster.

Fire devastates Johnson livery barn and Goings Hotel in Gillette
Last Thursday evening a blaze swept the Johnson livery barn, Little Daisy lunch room, Frazer's abstract office, and Johnson's second hand store, destroying buildings and contents valued at about 15000. Goings Hotel suffered heavy losses. Goings insurance is light. Firefighters battled flames until dawn and saved portions of the block.
