Sparks from a passing train last Friday ignited a fire on the HL L Reed range east of Burlington. The blaze destroyed hundreds of acres of winter range and more than 100 tons of hay plus fences, totaling at least 2000 dollars in losses. Reed laments the loss of his best grazing, worsened by hay scarcity in the area.

Cattle Market Dull in Northern Wyoming Sales
Cattle receipts opened Monday near 600 head lower than a week earlier selling around steady prices. Jack Davis Upton cattle brought 4.70 while Ed Brainard’s 1216 pound cattle sold 4.30 with heifers at 3.85 to 3.00 and cows at 2.50. Tuesday receipts climbed to 6500 and the market fell with best grass cattle at 4.60 and some sellers at 4.00. Sheep and lambs held firmer though fat lambs were high, feeders eased slightly.
