Preacher Rev Knox Served as Army Chaplain in World War II
Rev L P Knox pastor of Becond A R P Church West Gastoniz went to France with the 44th Division as regimental chaplain landed Cherbourg served with the 334th Infantry across France and Germany until war end. He carved wood to pass time and deliver sermons to four or five listeners. Knox was born in Huntersville and educated at Erskine College Brackla Seminary and Xenia Seminary. He pastored in Missouri Alabama and North Carolina before joining Gaston American Legion Post No 23 and living in Grave Heights with wife Clara Mitchell and two children.
