The Cramerton Kiwanis Club hosted the Key Club installation led by Bob Cordte of district Key Club. Officers named were James Marlin president Richard Lowe vice president Jerry Davis secretary and Jerry Bryant treasurer with Joe Bumgardner as faculty adviser. Herman Smith chaired the Key Club committee and Gastonia Key Club co sponsored. About 30 000 Canadians become U S citizens yearly.

Gerald I. Hagler of Belmont has been awarded a Princeton University graduate scholarship in chemical engineering. He graduates from North Carolina State College with the highest scholastic average in his department and holds multiple honors. 12 Playgrounds Set To Open Here June 12
Gastonia parks officials announce 12 playgrounds will start operations June 12 with opening day June 9. 34 summer workers and four lifeguards will staff two pools at Lineberger Park and Erwin Park. Supervisors include a man and a woman per site. Training runs next week, with sports like golf softball swimming and baseball offered.
