CHERRY POINT May 20 The pilot of a jet plane missing last night was found unharmed. Identified as Lt A M Pierpont of Quonset Point FR 1. A Cherry Point helicopter located Pierpont near Alligator Lake Jim Hyde courts, according to public information.

Indianapolis May 30 The Mercury pace car driven by Ben son Ford led the field from the start but pulled away early as Walt Ader’s Sampson Special encountered trouble. Mauri Rose led on the first lap with Walt Faulkner in second and Freddy Agabashian third as the 500 mile Memorial Day race began.
Charlotte May 30 Mrs Cameron Morrison died last Friday leaving £10,000 to the Training School of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Richmond. The rest of her estate runs into millions to her husband and relatives. She was the second wife of Cameron Marrison former Governor and U S Senator. Her first husband was George Watts. During her life she contributed to churches and educational and social agencies in the Carolinas and beyond.
President Truman plans to ask Congress for about 1.23 billion dollars to finance arms shipments for the new fiscal year starting July 1. About 1 billion would fund military supplies to nine Atlantic pact countries including Britain France and Italy with Portugal added for the first time. Remaining funds would aid Greece Turkey Iran Korea and the Philippines with some naval and air equipment for Portugal to protect coastlines and Azores bases.
Reports from South China indicate a growing air force for the Communist war machine with up to 400 planes, possibly 75 jet aircraft, spotted from Shanghai to Hainan. Inmates described knowledge gaps about air strength behind the bamboo curtain.
