Road sentence for assault in Gastonia court case
Hoyt Cunningham 32 was given a 30 day roads sentence for assault in Gastonia city court. He admitted striking Olint Singleton 1112 Miller Street on May 17 after alleged provocation. Singleton called the assault unprovoked. In a companion case Galey Martin 25 of South Gastonia received four 30 day suspended sentences for affray disorderly conduct and drunkenness, convicted of assault on Alvin Rankin who runs the bus terminal restaurant. Rankin said trouble began last Monday when Martin caused a disturbance and Rankin asked him to leave. Rankin was cleared of an affray charge. Pfc Timothy C Falls, son of Mr and Mrs R B Falls of Cramerton, is returning home from Germany after 16 months with Headquarters Company 124th Armored Ordnance Battalion in Bad Kreuznach. He is a Reid High School graduate of Belmont, entered service in 1954 and graduated from Supply Records Course in Fort Lee Virginia.

Peanut Case To Be Aired In High Court
Wille Holmes a 31 year old Gastonia man is to be tried in superior court for stealing a handful of peanuts from his uncle George Calloway at 416 West Harrison avenue. Holmes confessed to forcing a window screen and entering Saturday afternoon while the house was empty. Calloway said only the peanuts were missing and that Holmes had been trespassing since Sunday. Judge Julius T. Sanders suspended 30 days.

Second Police Car Is Wrecked
The Gastonia police cars Nos 1 and 3 were wrecked this week. Officer W R Ford 24 and Officer Eugene Posey were in a 1955 Chevrolet at South York street and West Third avenue. A second crash on Monday morning involved Charles Bell 32 and Rhea Baker Spencer 17. Damage ranged from 75 to 450 dollars. No charges were filed.
