Mr and Mrs L L Pegram of Stanley Creek postpone their golden wedding indefinitely due to sickness in the family. original celebration planned for next week is canceled.
Yorkville Enquirer quotes Mr. Howard arguing rural free delivery depends on public use. The government aims to provide mail facilities as needed, and routes continue only if residents send mail and newspapers. If a route fails to prove worth, it may be discontinued.
Wadesboro paper reports Willie Lentz, 16, bitten by a mad dog last month. The dog also bit a horse, three cows, and two hogs of F. K. Lentz. The horse died after convulsions and severe flesh tearing. The hogs and cows showed illness but few died. Mr. Lentz sent his horse to the Pasteur Institute via Baltimore for treatment.
The May 20 Havana dispatch notes the Cuban flag raised beside the U S banner to signal Cuba being free. The paper vows the American flag will not be displayed again until future relations permit.
