Hurricanes and tidal wave kill 260 on Carolina Islands
An AP dispatch from London dated the 22d reports 260 people dead from a hurricane and tidal wave that swept the Carolina Islands. J H Weddington of Charlotte is named by Governor Glenn as a delegate to the National Conference of Charities and Corrections meeting in Minneapolis June 12-19. At Clayton Georgia on Tuesday a negro tried to assault a white woman. In the aftermath two negroes were lynched, one white man and two negroes killed, and seven others injured.
