A Savannah special reports Dr Sherrard R Tabb head of the Marine Hospital Service in Savannah was missing since Monday and his body was found in Bonaventure Cemetery on April 30. He died by self administered chloroform using his coat as a pillow and a handkerchief saturated with chloroform.
Assistant Secretary Vanderlip approves new designs for the $5 silver certificates treasury notes and United States notes. The bills will share a common design featuring an American Indian in war attire on the face and two large fives with a central V on the rear. The changes are styling only, with no alterations to the currency type or portrait of a living figure.
Dr. Charles Dudley Warner argued in Washington that mere scholastic training fails to raise the Negro’s social status or prepare him for enterprise.
