About 200 Boy Scouts gathered at Karyae Park for a Gaston county Camporee with contests judged against standards. A. Bessemer City worker, 21, Henderson, is jailed in Gastonia after a late night knife attack in Crowders Mountain area. Victim Bob Carson, 21, was stabbed twice in the back and once in the chest, transported to Kings Mountain Hospital in critical condition. Henderson, employed by a Gastonia laundry, faces charges of intent to cause fatal harm and was held without bond as detectives investigate the altercation that began after a dispute tied to a drive between Henderson and Carson.

Catlettsburg Ends Flood Crisis After River Crest
Catlettsburg Kentucky 4000 residents began cleanup after the Big Sandy and Ohio rivers rose nearly six feet over flood stage. The crest pushed water over streets and into homes as authorities coordinated aid and silt removal while waters receded after nightfall.
