Heart and Kidney Transplants Achieved in Houston
DARRELL MACK reports that surgeons at St. Luke's Hospital performed the world's first simultaneous heart and kidney transplants. The heart and kidney came from a 15 year old donor from Cynroe Texas who died in a motorcycle accident. The recipients were James Bordon Cobb and William Charles Kaiser. Cooley's team used a new transplant node technique. The operation started 9 10 p m EDT Sunday and finished at 12 90 am EDT today with the heart beating normally.
