The Tryon Palace Commission discussed a plan by W F Babcock to purchase a plane for aerial mapping to help New Bern traffic problems. Estimated plane cost 10000 to 30000 dollars. last year the Highway Commission spent 262600 on private aerial surveys. Babcock proposed signs on major routes and a photogrammetry section costing about 200000 to 250000 dollars and a 150 to 200 person staff. motion to pursue underpass at New Bern was declined.

Obituary for Mrs. Katie Bell Carson at East Baptist Church
Mrs. Katie Bell Carson, 81, died Monday in a local hospital. Funeral services were held today at 2:30 p.m. at East Baptist Church with Rev. T. L. Cashwell presiding and Rev. Harry J. Schutte assisting. Burial followed at Grover Cemetery. The body lay in state one hour before the service and her grandsons served as pallbearers.
