A two car wreck on the Gastonia Kings Mountain Highway near Dixie Village Shopping Center left Steven Michael Cathey, 4, dead on arrival at Gaston Memorial Hospital. His mother Lucille Cathey and a passenger, Judy Dowell, were treated for injuries. Driver Geneva Murray Haynie, 52, was cited for manslaughter and failure to yield the right of way. she was later released on bond.
