Linwood Women Burn Mortgage Celebrate Linwood Park Club
The Linwood Park Club, formed fifteen years ago by Linwood women in Gastonia, burned its mortgage last night after years of growth and fundraising. The 23-member group, led by Mrs. Charles Bell, toasted with a meal and games in their green and gold clubhouse, which also serves the Linwood Presbyterian Church.

A jury awarded $30,000 to Boston lawyer Joseph Sax against Winthrop Rockefeller and Barbara Sears Rockefeller, but Judge Samuel Gold set aside the verdict as against the weight of evidence. Sax claimed $104,000 for legal services in reconciling the Rockefellers in 1952. they divorced in 1954.
