W G Manning will observe the official opening of his brand new department store at 1200 West Franklin Avenue on Friday. The building consolidates operations from former sites at 1216 and 1218 West Franklin, offering free side parking and a 75 by 34 foot showroom for convenient display of merchandise.

A thirty year old textile worker Leroy Baxter Dobbins of 1807 Warren street was hospitalized with a head wound after a York road collision near 1 50 p m Tuesday. He struck a car while crossing and suffered injuries to his left hand and arm. The driver was Marshall Lee Turner a 43 year old grocery clerk of 104 South Dalton street.
A report states that one side of the car's windshield was shattered by the impact, with Prestar noting the damage.

Floyd’s address listed as South Miller Street. He remains free on a $500 bond pending the swearing.
Spartanburg police arrest 30 year old Stephen Defoy Mabry on four counts of forgery. Capt. R. H. Smith says Mabry forged four checks using the names Charles Turner and Tommy Queen and marked them as pay for labor. Detectives ask anyone with similar checks to come forward.
The Woman's Auxiliary of St. Mark's Episcopal Church hosts a rummage sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the former Rankin Motors site on East Airline Avenue.
