Gas Explosion Injures Worker In Jacksonville
A gasoline explosion yesterday hospitalized N R Sullivan of Kinston with severe burns to the head and face while he worked to fill a crane’s auxiliary gas tank. The blast, in Jacksonville, also involved Raymond Williams, who faced charges after an entry at the West Bradley avenue home of Helen Sherrill. Williams received six months for trespass and another six months for assault with a deadly weapon. Sherrill required four stitches for a facial cut.

Hubert Edward Stroupe, 24, of 216 North Pryor street, died at 12 45 p m Monday from a sudden illness at Gastonia Roller Flyer and Spindle Company where he worked as a machinist. A native of the county he was born in Crowders Creek and lived here all his life. Survived by wife Faye Cogdell Stroupe, two children Charles and Barbara Ann, three brothers Paul, Plato of Gastonia and Lloyd of Miami. Funeral Wednesday at 3 p m at Gaston Avenue Church of God with burial in Hollywood cemetery. Active pallbearers named.
