The death toll from last Sunday night’s crash of a car into Catawba Creek rose to three with the death of James Donald Lunsford, 24, of 114 Farmview Street. He died Thursday at Gaston Memorial Hospital after being in critical condition with a broken back and other injuries. Three others were injured in the wreck, including Hubert Barker, 28, of York Road, who died instantly from a fractured skull when the 1951 car left the Catawba Creek bridge near Municipal Golf Course.
