Driver Faces Hit and Run on Cherryville Crouse Highway
A 38 year old man identified as Robert Gantt is in Gaston Memorial Hospital in critical condition after a hit and run on the Cherryville Crouse road early Sunday. Robert Pearson 21 has confessed to driving the car and was charged with hit and run driving and driving after revocation of license. James Seagle 28 faces charges of aiding both crimes and is free on bond. Sheriff Beam said the suspects hid in the woods with the damaged car then later admitted the crime after learning Gantt’s condition. The wreck occurred near James Carpenter's store. two witnesses reported a car without lights at the scene. Gantt is also wanted on a liquor law capias from superior court.
