Synod to consider record budget for benevolences
Tuesday night the Synod will hear the Council report on benevolences headed by J Neveland Brand of Wilmington. A 79 year old Kings Mountain man, William A Scism of Scism-Gin road, was hospitalized at Gaston Memorial after a bull gored him Saturday about 6 am. He suffered nine broken ribs and other injuries but was reported in satisfactory condition. The bull, owned about a year, had not attacked anyone before.

Three New Patrol Cars Delivered to Rural Police
Three of the new patrol cars for the Rural Police have been delivered with a fourth expected Monday or Tuesday. Coroner Rules Death Of Local Man Was Self-Inflicted
Coroner W J McLean ruled the death of 35 year old James Graham Jr a Carlton Mill employee as self-inflicted from a 16 gauge shotgun wound to the chest. The incident occurred about 9 am Sunday at the Lee Baker farm home off North Carolina Route 274. Graham was a deacon at Zion Hill Baptist Church and left one child.
