Gastonian Takes Oath On North Carolina Wildlife Commission
Gastonia businessman George W. Keesee took the oath as a member of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission in Raleigh, joining eight others appointed by Governor Cherry. The nine will oversee district eight, include Mount Mitchell and Daniel Boone refuges, and fund wildlife needs from hunting and fishing licenses. Keesee, a life member of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation, will serve a six year term with duties expiring January 1953, as the commission plans to expand state wildlife resources with public cooperation.

Carlton Mills to Observe 25th Anniversary July 4
Carlton Yarn Mills marks 25 years since starting production in 1922 with a July 4 program at the Carlton club house led by Senator Grady Rankin. Organ music, a Cherryville Band concert, and the presentation of service pins to long-tenured employees are planned, followed by a picnic, Camp Rudisill swim, and the release of an 80 page commemorative Carltonian.
