Tax return preparer sentenced in North Wilkesboro case
Nan Dowell a 47 year old part time tax preparer from North Wilkesboro was sentenced to one year in prison in Greensboro federal court after pleading guilty to one count of aiding in the preparation of a false return. He was an assistant supervisor at a poultry company and faced 25 counts before pleading guilty to the single charge. The IRS said the guilty return caused a tax loss of 4124 dollars and Dowell must repay that amount plus interest and penalties.
