Entertaining Friday night at the home of Miss Ann McArver Mrs James Stallings and Mrs Hiram Maples gave a pretty party honoring Miss Blanche Glover bride elect.
Guests of twenty attended Miss Glover's party as a refreshing sherbet was served. She wore a white linen frock and carried a bouquet of carnations and sweet peas. The rooms were decorated with mixed flowers and the informal evening flowed with lively chatter. The Invisible rays of the many deadly germ-killers known to scientists were noted.
The social calendar lists a Morris Field Officers Club dance Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Gastonia. Thursday features a 4 to 5 30 p.m. reception for Mrs Ralph Griffin and Miss Betty Jean Griffin on Wilkinson Boulevard. Friday hosts Mrs R B Wilson Jr and Miss Ruth Christian entertaining on South Street for Margaret Morrow. Saturday morning includes a wedding breakfast at Mrs Wilsons South Street home for Miss Nell Abee of Belmont.
Mrs. Margaret Mortis Brunton presents her piano pupils in recital Thursday at 8 in the Main Street Methodist Church Men’s Bible class room. Parents and friends invited to hear performances by many young musicians including Hoyle, Park, Rollins, Koppen, Jackson, Setzer, Hagler, Taylor, Harwell, Nigua, and others.
Mrs. Glenzer announces the marriage of her daughter Margaret to George Glenzer son of Mr and Mrs Louie Glenzer of El Campo Texas on Saturday May 31 in York DC. The bride is a Monroe nurse and the groom works for Carnation Milk Co Statesville. They will reside in Carver.
Mrs Blair Peoples enters Garrison General Hospital for an operation scheduled today. Miss Emmalene Thomas arrives at Mars Hill College to study piano and voice for the summer. Mrs Blonnie Pittman of The Gazette staff is ill. Miss Ruth Mason Williams substitutes. Miss Josephine Eden leaves for Ware Shoals to play at a wedding then visits Limestone College friends in Bellon. Capt and Mrs Sam B Bledsoe Jr and baby Sammy III return from Ogden Utah to visit relatives in Marietta Street home. Miss Vangie Mae Wells sails to Pennington Gap to teach piano for Stamps Baxter Music Co during summer. Fred and Lawrence Smith return from a business trip to New York City and Boston, with Old Philippine War ties noted. Wedding reception details and a note on the 1790 population center now in Indiana.
Mr. and Mrs. G Truett Smith announce the birth of a daughter named Vickie Diane on Wednesday June Sth at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. Mrs. Smith is formerly Miss Helen Hansil of Catawba Heights. The piece notes a World War II estimate of over 70 million dollars invested by the United States in synthetic rubber plants.
