Fr Lindsey Fletcher Jackson Lindsey 49 of Lowell died Saturday in a local hospital survived by wife Bonnie Lindsey a son Lawrence Lindsey a daughter in Indiana three brothers and a sister and a grandchild funeral Monday at Carothers Chapel with burial Hollywood Cemetery officiated by Rev Frank Darnell.

Mrs Kendrick Taken By Death in Gastonia

Julia Bell Kendrick 7% of New Hope road died Saturday night in a local hospital. Born August 28 1881 in Gaston County she was the daughter of the late William Bell and Mary E Robinson Bell. Survived by four daughters two sons three brothers seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral at New Hope Presbyterian Church Monday at 3 p m with burial in Lowell Cemetery. Rev J H Buzhardt and Rev J H Knight will officiate.

Gastonia Club Meetings Broadcast on Tuesday and Wednesday

Sheriff Ashby Robinson Murder Trial Resumes Today

A McDowell County sheriff faces trial for the alleged slaying of Cohen Sprinkle in Marion. After a four day voir dire screening 95 veniremen were seated on the jury, with nine men and three women. Judge Hugh B Campbell ordered two alternates amid expected length and limited weekend sessions.

Death Takes Mrs Trakas A Gaston farewell for Mrs Trakas

Mrs Stamy Leventis Trakas 64 of 415 South Oakland street died in a local hospital Sunday morning after a 21 month illness. She was a Gastonian for 45 years born February 23 1893 in Arahova Greece. Funeral services at Greek Orthodox Church Karyae Parks Bishop Polyzoides Nyssis and Rev Chrys Papalambrou with burial in Gaston Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband Andrew S Trakas four sons two daughters a brother and 11 grandchildren. The body is at the home where arrangements are handled by Ward Love Funeral Home.

Mrs Scruggs to Attend Florida Consumer Credit Conference

Pauline S. Scruggs executive secretary of Gaston County Merchants Association will attend the 43rd annual International Consumer Credit Conference next week in Miami Beach Florida. She and her husband Rivers travel by car and both serve on the hospitality committee. She is also secretary of the international achievement award winners group which will hold a luncheon on June 20. The conference runs Sunday through Thursday next week.

Rear Admiral to Administer Service Oath at Raleigh Event

Rear Admiral G C Crawford commandant of the Sixth Naval District will administer the oath of allegiance at enlistment ceremonies for the Johnny Red Battalion on the capitol lawn in Raleigh Wednesday. Accompanied by Lt Cdr F F Clifford Jr and the U S Navy Band from Charleston base, the 300 Johnny Rebs from across North Carolina will attend with Miss North Carolina Miss Raleigh and Miss Johnny Reb.
