Belmont Street Methodist Church teachers hosted a Friday evening fellowship hall shower for Miss Emily Pauline Smith the bride elect. She will wed Ronald Helton on June 13 wearing lavender trimmed lace and white accessories as guests served lime punch and cake squares. Hosts were Mrs. Mitchell Stowe Helms and Coley. 24 guests brought useful gifts. A separate drop in cake party honored Miss Emily Smith at the home of Mrs. Barbara Louis with a pastel blue shirtwaist and pink carnations. she received a silver gift. Dr Dimeshkie and Dr Charles Malik, UN General Assembly president, visited Belmont Abbey College remarks followed. Dimeshkie noted Lebanon’s government service and ambassadorial roles.
Mr and Mrs Don Emerson and awards were given at Central School with donors including The Balfour Company The Danforth Foundation and American Legion Post 243 among others Kathleen Froneberger Jang received Memorial Cup Steven Matthews and Don Curtis won top honors The ceremony included Loyalty Scholarship and Sportsmanship awards and highlighted high achievers in music reading and drama with remarks on staff and visiting dignitaries.
