Postal Receipts Here Increase During May
Asheville June 2 A Camp Robber, Ala., soldier James Rathbone died here yesterday in a motorcycle crash during a postal delivery run. May postal receipts totaled 6 for the month, up to compared with last year’s May receipts. The accident occurred while Rathbone was a passenger in a motorcycle driven by Herbert M. Carver of Canton. Carver died in the wreck. The Canton post office reports a year to date total of 189,476.58, with an increase of 4,422.85 for the quarter. Postmaster Roshamer notes the rise mirrors Gastonia’s growth and says local business is driving higher receipts. The Dresden diamond and apple green references appear in a brief, unclear note.
