Plane crash injures two in Anson County
Two Wadesboro men, pilot Jon Gray and passenger Casey Burr, were hurt when their single engine plane crashed in a cornfield about a half mile north of Anson County Airport. Gray was hospitalized. Burr listed in critical condition at Charlotte Memorial. FAA investigating the crash befire cause remains undetermined.

Five gunrunners sentenced in interstate conspiracy case

Picketing pickets jailed in Fresno

Bank robberies rise as new North Carolina branches spread
The Associated Press reports a surge in bank robberies as banks rush to open more branches in North Carolina. In 1972 there were 70 robberies, a 40 percent rise, with about one a week this year.
