Gastonia Little Theater invites interest for the musical Kiss Me Kate to be staged in March at Gastonia. Prospective volunteers are urged to attend a meeting Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the City Court Room to join on stage or behind the scenes.
Gaston County Farm Office starts a six week census asking farmers about farm size land use crops and harvest data. Census takers Grimes Harrelson Neil Cargón Howard Rhyne Ralph Siges Tom Springs and Bill Brewer will collect confidential information for county and state reports. If any farmer is missed contact the farm agent to obtain blanks.
The tax listing period for Gaston citizens extends to February 15 for 1958 taxes. Property owners must list at the tax supervisor’s office at the courthouse or with township tax listers. Penalties apply if taxes are not listed by the deadline.
A 16 year old Gastonia youth faced a city court judge and chose to give up driving after a Christmas Eve chase in West Gastonia. He had been convicted of speeding at 70 mph reckless driving and ignoring a police siren. State Patrolman W L Garri sory pursued him at speeds up to 10 mph.

Marvin R. Warren, chief examiner, accuses Neere Ol Selmons and Richardson of accepting unauthorized payments for license examinations. Richardson allegedly arranged “contacts” for Snuggs and split sums above the standard $2.50 license fee.
The New Hope Volunteer Fire District shifts boundaries by leaving Cramerton and West Cramerton to reduce territory and aim for a Class A Fire Rating. A map of the new boundaries was submitted for acceptance after approval by the Gaston Board of Commissioners on Monday.
Miss Vivian Culver of Raleigh executive secretary of the North Carolina State Board of Nursing Education and Nurse Registration will visit Gastonia on Monday. The advisory council to the School of Nursing will meet with Miss Culver Tuesday afternoon. Two local injuries are reported from weekend accidents near the intersection of Franklin and Chester streets and Franklin and Poplar avenues, involving names such as Janet Dolson, Charles W. Dotson, Benjamin F. Page, Lonnie Lee Williams, and Kenneth D. Chitwood. Estimated vehicle damage about 1200 dollars.
More than 200 Madison firemen from eight companies fought two blazes, starting at Hanson Auto Body Co and spreading toward the Bassett street area where the McGrath home stood.
