Negro's Bond Set At $1000 In Break-In Case
A 21-year-old Negro man, 4. V. McGill, was bound over to Superior Court on a breaking and entering charge after a preliminary hearing in Gastonia Municipal Court. Judge O F Mason set a $1000 appearance bond. McGill allegedly climbed a window at N Pryor Street home of his former girlfriend Belly Wood and resisted deputies until her aunt arrived with a pokin iron. He also faced a trespass charge filed by Wood. Separately Richard Sadge, a Gastonia tractor trailer driver, was fined $5 and costs for speeding and for driving on the wrong side of the road on Chester Street.

City police said Lhay picked up a man on Poston Circle and found Officer Marshall Smithing in city court Friday for an explanation of the drunkenness. He could not explain the anger. Thomas Reid, 47, told him he stopped at a lady's house to borrow a cigarette. She gave him a "tip-top" lid instead of the Camel he wanted.

Man Guilty Of Driving While Drunk In 1960s Gastonia case
Joel Fred Best 2129 Parkdale Ave was found guilty Friday of driving under the influence after his car rammed the Golf service station yard at Chester Street and Franklin Avenue. Judge C F Mason suspended six months and ordered a $200 fine plus costs. A Superior Court appeal was noted but the second offense charge was dismissed for lack of evidence of prior intoxication. The Dec 13 incident damaged lighting fixtures and the station yard.
