Firecrackers Start Grass Blazes on City Streets
Firemen report two grass fires near W. Third Ave on Wednesday afternoon caused by firecrackers. Crews reached the 1700 block in time to prevent damage. A similar blaze occurred about an hour earlier in the 1560 block. Gastonia firefighters also responded to four other calls with no damage, including a spill of gasoline at Main Ave and South St washed away.
