Packard Motor Car Company expects 1952 to begin with a relatively good supply of cars despite defense related cuts. President Hugh J. Perry said by mid year a mild sellers market may appear and cars, wages, and fuel should remain available. He noted no price hikes for now but warned of potential highway accident risk from busier roads.
Mr and Mrs George B Cramer return from Paris after about three years. Cramer led sections of the Economic Cooperation Administration in Paris and traveled through Europe. They plan to visit Cramerton today with Mrs S W Cramer and accompanied by Miss Abilene Crooks who has been visiting in Ontario Canada.
A candlelight Holy Trinity service is planned for 11 30 tonight. Gastonia Moose Lodge 1303 activists organized Christmas baskets for needy families, including a kitchen, groceries and Christmas room. The lodge committee led by Paul Owensby prepared the gifts with warm beverages and doughnuts at the lodge home. The service features Rev George W. as pastor delivering The Angel's Message, with the choir performing The Birthday of the King and Mary Celeste Rudisill singing Away in a Manger.

Johnny Cureton, about 24, a Belmont resident employed at South Fork mill, leaped from a concrete bridge over the Catawba River Sunday afternoon. He drowned before rescue. Coroner McLean ruled death by his own action. Eyewitnesses included R. H. Hanesil and family. Cureton was married to Florence Cathey and leaves his mother Mrs. Ella Mae Cureton. He had asthma attacks and carried a social security card and driver’s license. Funeral arrangements were handled by G. W. Davison Funeral Home. Mayor Harrelson Yancey issued Christmas greetings to Gastonia residents.
Luther League carolers return from their rounds and visit Gastonia homes stopping at the Tonia Post Office. The post office reports a peak of 89,660 outgoing mails last Tuesday, down from last year’s 98,120 record, with a busy incoming-mail period ahead. Office closes tomorrow with one clerk on duty, resuming regular hours Wednesday. Cancellations last week reached 87,070 Monday and 89,660 Tuesday, followed by lower totals through the week. Mr and Mrs Herman A Swiers of Chicago spend Christmas with Willard Swiers in Holland Avenue. the two men are brothers.
Gastonia Commandery No 28 Knights Templar schedules its annual Christmas observance at the Masonic Temple tomorrow evening at 7 30. The public is invited with uniforms worn by Sir Knights who have them. Holiday guests include Lt and Mrs R L McElroy of Pensacola Fla and Mr and Mrs Jerry Pless and Sharon of China Grove plus L P Ward Jr of Whiteville.
