Huntington report says 10-year-old Jackie Lockhart, a brain tumor patient, received a final Christmas visit from Santa Claus with a tree and toys. He chose a shiny pistol but died the following day after his condition worsened despite first reports of recovery.
In Los Angeles 2nd Lt. Glenn Davis requests discharge from the Army after four War World II seasons at West Point, stating the petition was filed through regular channels. John Summers, 50, of Belmont, is jailed in Gaston County on embezzlement charges involving 6200 from a Christmas fund for Sterling Mill employees. He sank on a jail cot refusing nourishment after a 10 day pneumonia illness, saying he will return to Belmont after settling the matter. He said he provided a full accounting to R Cave Hall and claimed funds funded the Belmont Combbers, a semi professional team.
