Seabiete Robinecn Jr son of actor was dismissed after jury stood 11 to 1 for acquittal. Retrial had been set for February 14 but prosecution advised dismissal.

Two people were injured and Gastonia man John T. Robinson charged with drunken driving after a three-car crash on Wilkinson Boulevard four miles east of Gastonia at 8 30 p m. Robinson collided with H D Whitener and then hit Eddie M Chapman head on. Chapman treated at hospital. Whitener unharmed. Robinson 1040 Buick a total loss. Damages estimated at 850 dollars.
The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company signed an agreement to purchase two government-owned synthetic rubber plants. They are in Lake Charles Louisiana and Akron Ohio. The Akron plant was the first to be completed and to produce GAS rubber under wartime programs. The Lake Charles plant sits beside a Cities Service refinery producing butadiene for the government.
The Gastonia Social Security Office will be closed all day Friday December 24 per District Manager Joseph P Walsh. The closure follows a government order granting a Christmas Eve holiday and the office reopens at 9:00 a.m. Monday December 27.
The local North Carolina Employment Security Commission office will be closed Friday December 24 and Monday December 27 for Christmas. Claimants who would sign on Friday will report December 31 and those who would sign next Monday will report January 3 at the regular time.
