Youths guilty plea accepted in Gastonia assault case
In Gastonia a 17 year old, Albert Bagwell of Rex Mill Plant 2, pleaded guilty to assault on a female after prosecutors could not prove a crime against nature. He received six months on the public roads suspended for two years, with conditions to avoid further legal trouble and stay away from the child’s home. Detective E H Groves testified the youth admitted going into woods with an air rifle and taking the three year old girl there and attempting to molest her. Four other defendants paid fines for prohibition violations. Ben Hope and others faced minor charges. The case against George Giles for house breaking was not pressed.

RALEIGH December 29 ACE Chairman Robert W Winston announced Illinois plans a crackdown on distributors supplying liquor to North Carolinas dry areas. Winston said the Maryland action last July, which stopped Maryland wholesalers from sending liquor into dry regions, cut off about 25000 gallons a month he estimates.
