Cyprus president’s son freed after four day kidnapping
Achilleas Kyprianou, second lieutenant in the Cyprus national guard and son of President Spiros Kyprianou, was released in Limassol after four days in captivity. Kidnappers, believed tied to the right wing EKKA-B group, had demanded amnesty for jailed terrorists and threatened beheading. The father vowed to defend Cyprus and urged unity as political parties called for a mass rally and a general strike.
