Citizens National Bank opens its Akers Center branch in Gastonia on Monday December 19 from 9 am to 6 pm with two drive in windows and modern service. Manager Giles Arndt leads staff in offering full banking services, including vault facilities and air conditioned interiors.

Giles Arndt Named Manager of East Branch Citizens Bank

Giles J. Arndt, longtime Citizens National Bank employee since 1946, will manage the East Branch at the Akers Shopping Center opening Monday. A Maiden native and World War II veteran, he previously led the personal loan department at the Franklin Avenue Branch. He and wife Virginia Plaster of Hickory have three children and live on West Second Street.

Edward Pendleton, 44, was taken to Gaston Memorial Hospital with a one-inch neck laceration after an incident on West Airline avenue near North Highland street. Detectives report he may have fallen or been pushed from a vehicle stopped in traffic. witnesses could not confirm how he left the car. Pendleton does not appear seriously hurt and the car was not identified.
