Mrs. W H Reddish hosted the Philathia class of the First Baptist Sunday school on Long Street despite heavy rain. About thirty guests enjoyed games, socializing, refreshments, and a fortune reading from a Christmas tree center display.
Mr Gray the bridegroom is a young Gastonia businessman and head of Gray Manufacturing. The bride is described as accomplished with many friends. After the ceremony the couple traveled to Gibsonville and then to their wedding tour, with December 20 planned return to Gastonia. Guests included Mr and Mrs C L Iseley and several others from Burlington, Liberty, and Greensboro.
A half tone image in Sundays Atlanta Journal shows Miss Josie Blankenship of Columbus Ga visiting Atlanta. She is well known in Gastonia where she has visited Mrs W J Clifford and is regarded as a popular society woman in Columbus.
A 1907 Gastonia Gazette front prints a Christmas plea from a small boy asking Santa for a bicycle and red gloves to keep hands warm, plus shoes for his sister. He mentions riding, making chips to heat a fire, and that Santa is to bring the gifts at Aunt Amery's.
Last week the Gastonia Insurance and Realty Company acquired a valuable tract in South Gastonia adjoining its existing holdings. The parcel fronts 300 feet on South Street and York Street and about 1,000 feet on Fifth Street, purchased from W. N. Davis. It completes the remainder of a block poised for subdivision into several desirable residential lots.

D. J. Howe of Pleasant Ridge passed away Sunday at 3 30 am after a stroke in July and a relapse. He was an Olney Presbyterian elder and Confederate veteran of the Fifth South Carolina Regiment. His funeral was at Olney Presbyterian Church with Rev. G. A. Sparrow. interment in Olney Cemetery. Survived by two sons Robert and James, and his second wife Maggie Torrence.
