Morgan County deputies uncovered a still hidden in an abandoned Webbs Chapel area home after a wrecking job began Friday and finished Saturday morning. About 109 gallons of white liquor and five barrels of mash were dumped in a yard as officers removed equipment. the home was boarded up to conceal the operation. Local officials spoke of Moonshine activity and noted the men responsible were rarely present, with no immediate indication of third party involvement.
A six year old girl, Rosella Auster, found frozen in an abandoned Prestonsburg store, rushed to Louisville hospital. Lewis returned to Gastonia, runs Lewis Motors Inc., serves as Recreation Bowl president, helped bring Gastonia Browns and Rockets to town, and is active in Optimist Club and church. He and his wife Frankie and daughter live at 2211 Armstrong Park Road. A kickoff meeting will set plans.
A Chicago boy sought help from Police Commissioner O Connor to obtain a purring Christmas kitten for Kathy Brown, a four year old girl. Officers Capt. Leroy Steffens and Patrolman James Bes Palets delivered a red ribboned cat, with orders to choose a named kitten if it purred, and to return a $3 fee.
