Man Seized in Auto Search in Rocky Mount

Police in Rocky Mount captured Peter Baxter a 28 year old Lincolnton man serving a murder sentence who escaped a Greenville prison camp three months ago. Baxter allegedly stole a new car from Smith Chevrolet and fled when spotted by officers after a two mile chase. Bloodhounds failed to locate him but he surrendered at a service station where his nephew was arrested nearby. They were jailed in Rocky Mount.

Champion to sing in Handel Messiah at First Baptist
