Funeral services for Garland Samuel Johns 49 custodian of the county parking lot behind the courthouse were to be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock in the Mt Holly Funeral Home chapel. He died Thursday at 5 30 p m in a Gastonia hospital. The body lay in state one hour prior to the service with Rev Robert Summey and Rev Walter Long officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. The funeral will be held Sunday at 4 p m at the First Baptist Church of Hickory.

Youth Charged With Car Theft Following Crash
A 16 year old boy was arrested and charged with auto theft after a car was wrecked Friday night near the Belmont Drive In Theatre. Thomas Noeman Kasper 210 South Millen Street was held on 1090 dollar bond by Rural Police Patrolmen Don Bradshaw and Jerry Pasour after the stolen vehicle was believed taken from a parking lot at the Firestone Mill around 730 PM.
