Pisgah ARP Church hosts a Christmas program Sunday at 7 PM featuring Why the Chimes Rang by R. M. Alden. The Junior Department performs the pantomime Pedro and Little Brother with a church chime tale. Participating: Pastor Dr.
Fire damaged the parsonage of Rev. E. V. Plemmons at 1517 Spencer Mountain Road, blamed on a choked flue. Alarm at 7:10 a.m., East Gastonia firefighters responded. about $400 in paint and stove damage. Numerous local names listed. church choir and guests planned a holiday program with carols and solos.
The Gastonia District Methodist Ministerial Association with 65 members holds a special meeting at 10 30 a m Monday December 16 in Stanley Methodist Church Devotions lead by District Superintendent J G Huggin and the main address by Bishop Nolan B Harmon of Charlotte A Christmas noon dinner will be served by the church women The group meets monthly rotating among district churches This is a special meeting with high attendance expected and strong interest

In Gastonia the Municipal Court listed several defendants Friday morning on speeding and related charges. John Brown 26 Cherryville and James Crump 25 High Shoals paid fines plus costs. Harold Kale 25 Charlotte and Beulah Rayless 49 paid costs for running red light or stop sign. Others had costs partially paid or judgments continued without costs. A disorderly conduct case against Cecil Cody 32 was dismissed.

LOS ANGELES Anthony Franciosa husband of actress Shelley Winters began a 10 day term at a sheriff's honor farm after being convicted of assaulting a photographer who tried to take a picture as the couple left a auction. Franciosa said he objected to being photographed since they were not married at the time.
Six Negroes were to be arraigned here today before U S Commissioner Charles E Ader on charges of selling narcotics. The defendants were named in an investigation that began in August by federal agents with help from state and local officers. Two defendants were already imprisoned elsewhere.
Interest grows in restoring a telephone circuit to TELEPHONE Texas after ice storms knocked out the local system. School Superintendent Homer Sledzel said a cooperative representative surveyed the area and pledged to connect TELEPHONE if sufficient subscribers are secured in nearby communities, with the system previously ruined in 1949.
Detroit patrolmen Donald North and Eugene Kenlam tried to block a railroad crossing during a bandit search. Their squad car became stuck on roadbeds and was struck by an eastbound passenger train then a westbound freight train. No injuries occurred and the crossing remained blocked.
Clea M Orrison recovered his Army dog tag lost in New Guinea thirteen years ago. A Royal Dutch Navy draftsman, Robert A Rolfes, found the tag while clearing a site for a building and sent it to Orrison’s sister Lingh Miller of Panhandle Texas, noting Orrison’s presumed death in the jungle.
Mrs. A. C. Lanier died Friday morning at the Methodist Home in Charlotte after a period of serious illness. McLean and Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements which are incomplete. She lived here before entering the Methodist Home.
Actor Hudson and his wife Phyllis Gates planned divorce as friends reported. The pair, married November 9 1995 in Canton Western North Carolina, separated last October. The headline notes a front page weather section and references a record date 1951.

The Parent-Teacher Association of Peedin Elementary enjoyed a Christmas party in the school cafeteria on Monday December 9. Mr Best led devotionals with Miss Hollar and Miss Alexander in charge of games and singing. Mrs Withers assisted with refreshments. Door prizes and drawings were held. Mrs Howard Deaver presided over a short business session.
Hollywood report notes Mrs Marlon Brando denies rumors of a split with the actor. The former Anna Kashfi says she is at home awaiting their baby due next July and questions the origin of the tale. Brando declined to comment, reiterating that his private life is his business. They wed October 11 and announced her pregnancy on November 3.
Lawrence O. George, 54, died suddenly Thursday at his Cherryville R-2 home. Dallas at home Mrs Rose Parker, 58, placed items in a wood stove while packing. A loud bang followed as live pistol shells exploded in the fire. She was wounded near the left shoulder and is reported in satisfactory condition.

Louisville health official Dorothy Magallon, head of the communi cable disease control unit, had to bail her dog from the city pound after it wandered from home. The officer helps round up stray dogs to prevent rabies.
