H C Adams of 910 South Gibbons Street overturned a westbound car on Country Club hill at about 10 30 p m Monday night. Adams was unhurt. Earlier Monday afternoon on Main and York Street a left turn by Margaret Fowler 33 of 404 Hanna Street was struck by another vehicle. Eugene Childers 19 of East Gastonia traveling east on Main Avenue collided with the Fowler car. Damages estimated at 150 dollars.

The Highland High School band performed a Christmas program for the children at North Carolina Orthopaedic Hospital in the hospital auditorium on Sunday afternoon directed by R. L. Schooler. The program opened with Silent Night and included a recitation The Night Before Christmas by Carolyn Gary and a Christmas medley on the musical saw. The annual hospital concert is a Highland tradition for five years. Festivities at Highland continue with a Thursday pageant and home-room parties on Thursday and Friday.
