Watergate Big 3 stay out of jail on appeal
This AP report notes C Haldeman Ehrlichman and John N Mitchell nearly a year after their Watergate convictions have not entered prison and may not soon if the U S Court of Appeals upholds or modifies their two year terms An appeal to the Supreme Court is anticipated with briefings and hearings likely extending into 1967 or beyond The trio along with Robert C Mardian were convicted January and February of the prior year while Mardian faced a separate civil suit and various interviews and writings emerged during the period also highlighting Mitchell’s Senate testimony and Ehrlichman’s reclusion while working on a fictional novel about White House intrigue
