Budget Nixes Cut In Taxes Signals No Revenue Loss
Treasury spokesman Dan Thropsmith told House Ways and Means subcommittee there is no room in the coming year’s budget for tax cuts. He said current figures do not include a tax reduction that would cause a net revenue loss. Smith, adviser to Secretary Humphrey, testified at a panel studying federal excise tax laws for possible overhaul next session. BOCA RATON Fla construction workers in the Carolinas are expected to rise substantially next year. Robert Patten of Charlotte NC, executive director of the regional branch of the Associated General Contractors of America, told about 700 construction men at a three day meeting that the industry could exceed 1.0 billion dollars. He warned the federal highway program could boost activity before midyear, predicting new roads will attract filings, stores, factories and communities along improved routes.
