Colif. AP says talkinger Jinme Rodgers, 38, was reported well enough to call from his hospital bed but remains in very serious condition after being beaten on a freeway Sunday. Fred Ward, 28, Durham Morning Herald reporter who covered local police at City Hall and edited arts, died when his car overturned and rested in an Avergeown field.
