Stanley Lions Club Christmas party set for Tuesday
Stanley Lions Club will hold its Christmas party at the community building Tuesday at 7 PM with wives as special guests. Don Sapp, chairman, reports a turkey shoot during Thanksgiving raised 700 dollars, the largest amount from any club project in five years. In New York City a 16 year old, Robert Murphy, turned himself in after days of hiding to face a felonious assault charge for shooting his 39 year old foster mother, Marie Murphy, in her Brooklyn home. She survived but was critically injured. He tearfully asked for forgiveness, saying he planned the attack over two months, driven by a dispute over supper dishes. The family welcomed him back after police involvement, and the trio traveled to the station.
