E. W. Liles of Gibson, brother of F. G. Lites of Gastonia, died Wednesday morning at his home. Survived by his wife, six children, two other brothers, one sister, and Mrs. Lilean. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Harry Long, Mrs. W. D. Todd, and Miss Attie Belle Liles, all of Gastonia. Liles and Mrs. Todd left for Gibson to attend funeral services. Final rites set for Thursday afternoon at Liles Cemetery in Brightsville near Gibson.

Gastonia man Jasbn Ruben Smith was released on $200 bond after three theft charges from the Wix Corporation. Police say the Wix employee admitted stealing cloth over three incidents, ranging from 6:20 PM to 5:30 PM, with most items recovered and valued around $180. He stated the fabric was used for home projects.

The Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office will mail cotton allotment notices to local farmers Monday or Tuesday informing them of 1934 allotments. The county allotment is 4933 acres, based on a five year average of 7,499 acres for Gaston. An earlier Raleigh report of 5,335 was in error, per Mrs. May New, ASC office manager. A meeting for ASC community committeemen and cotton ginners is set for Monday at 1 30 in her Marietta Street office. Norman L. Wilson will discuss 1954 allotments, the referendum, and ASC programs.
