C W Costner a well known farmer and fox hunter from High Shoals plans a ten day hunting trip starting Saturday to Pender county then to Little Washington Onslow county for bear and deer hunts joined by Joe Stner. He says hunting is a lifelong hobby but a young man’s hunt now in his sixties. He will report back to Col. Gaston on return.

Liquor Related Offenses Bring Appeals and Fines in Gastonia Court
In Gastonia municipal court two men received public road sentences for drunkenness and a third was fined fifty dollars plus costs for liquor law violations. An assault case was not pressed and another continued. Thomas Jones, 21, was sentenced to four months on the road for drunkenness. Link 3, 45, was sent out, and Burngardner faces ninety days. A 58 year old woman pled guilty to possessing taxed whiskey. Bennie Bennett’s liquor charge was not pressed with leave. Rudolph Kelly faced costs for failing to press assault charges against Thomas Gingles, whose hearing was reset for Monday. Mrs. Ralph Deaton was taxed costs for failing to appear in an assault case. Bonds for Robert Huffstickler and Arthur Reeves were ordered relieved and surrendered by the state.

James Blair McGill of Cheyenne Wyoming, formerly Gastonia, was found dead atop a spare tire in a refrigerated truck after running away from home. Officers say carbon monoxide fumes caused his death. House Damaged In Morning Fire On Hawkins Street
A four room house on Hawkins Street in South Gastonia was heavily damaged by a morning fire around 10 o clock Saturday. Negro Charged With Shooting Another Man
Walter Vance, a Black man, is sought after allegedly shooting Brea Adams, 35, at Model Laundry. Adams, wounded in arm, hand, back, hip, and legs, identified Vance and accused him of the attack after going to retrieve clothes. Adams described the pursuit and gunfire outside the laundry. Adams reported Adams later told detectives of the incident. Vance was detained for assault with intent to kill if found.

Jerry Devinney Injured by Truck
Three year old Jerry Devinney son of W H Devinney of 1426 East Airline avenue was seriously hurt Saturday when struck by a Mecklenburg Packing Company truck. Driver Earl Roberts 20 of McAdenville fled the road to avoid the child and the rear wheel passed over the boy's leg. He was taken to Garrison General Hospital with a broken leg pelvic injuries and possible skull fractures. Roberts posted $1000 bond for further investigation.
